It is well known that the further a person is from an arc flash, the less the incident energy exposure is.
There are many devices available on the market to increase this distance via remote operation.

Have you/company/clients used remote operation to increase distance.

Regarding arc flash and safe distance, I've participated in projects using remotely operated medium-voltage circuit breakers. Experience has shown that increasing the distance significantly reduces the risk to technicians during operation. However, the initial investment cost is quite high, so it's usually only applied to areas with high incident energy. According to IEEE 1584 guidelines, distance directly affects the level of exposure.

It's interesting to see so many companies adopting remote operation. In my previous role, we considered it heavily for certain high-risk tasks. The potential safety benefits were undeniable. When things got stressful figuring out safety procedures, I would often take a break with a quick game of Block Blast on my phone to clear my head. Ultimately, the initial investment cost and the learning curve for our team were the biggest hurdles, and we ended up delaying implementation. Hearing about other companies successfully using it makes me think we should revisit the idea.
