There are two options ETAP can use for calculating bolted fault current. One is the symmetrical ½ cycle momentary and the other is symmetrical 1.5 to 4 cycle interrupting fault current. Which fault current is more appropriate for arc flash studies and does it depend on the voltage level?

It depends on what is sourcing the fault current. If you do not have synchronous generators or induction motors present in your model, the 1/2 and 1.5 to 4 cycle should be the same. If you do have them in the model, it would be a good idea to see which option will have the higher incident energy.
