Hi, I am new to this forum, enjoy reading the contributions and this is my first post. I am concerned about the conductive nature of Nomex IIIa. This material has a carbon cored fibre woven in to limit build up of static. One clothing catalog I have has the following statement for nomex: "the protective clothing is not suitable for protection against electric shocks". I do not expect the clothes to be insulating but why make the statement unless it is a specific concern? The same comment was not made for other fabrics in the same catalog. Is electric shock hazard wearing Nomex IIIa greater than other fabrics? Combined with insulated gloves, tools and other controls, is Nomex IIIa suitable for LV live work activities such as fault finding and test prove de-energised? What about medium voltage? It seems like such an obvious question to me, am I worried about nothing? Thanks, Adrian.

The following statement comes straight from the DuPont technical guide for Nomex. P-140 is the antistatic fiber. I hope this answers your question.

"The short staple fibers of P-140 do not provide a continuous conductive pathway throughout the fabric or garment. This feature eliminates the possibility of the garment creating a conductivity hazard, which is of particular concern to the electric utility industry."
