We have just issued the rubber glove kits for our Maintenance electricians and are looking at the 6 month testing requirements. We troubleshoot in-house 480 volt and lower circuits.
Are there newer standards that shown in the 2009 NFPA 70E ?

I was talking about the revision to ASTM F496, there was a rumor (Someone said the were told in a safety class) the requirements for daily inspections changed so an inflator was now required. I found the revision and it is not true (Trainer must sell glove inflators or something). Here is the revised requirement.

“8.3 Insulating gloves shall be given an air test by rolling the cuff tightly toward the palm in such a manner that air is entrapped inside the glove, or by using a mechanical inflator. When using the latter, care shall be taken to avoid overinflation. The glove shall be examined for punctures and other defects. Puncture detection may be enhanced by listening for escaping air or holding the gloves against the worker’s cheek to feel for escaping air. See Guide F 1236.

NOTE 11—Inflation Limits:
Type I—No part of the glove or sleeve shall be stretched more than twice the normal size.
Type II—No part of the glove or sleeve shall be stretched more than 1.25
times the normal size.”
