We will call this week’s question “bragging rights” It is simple and to the point regarding the size of arc flash studies based on the number of buses. What is the largest arc flash study you have been involved with for one facility - either performing or having a consultant performed it. 0 – 200 buses 200-500 buses 500-1000 buses 1000-2000 buses More than 2000 buses – OK, how many buses? |

With my previous employer we created and maintained a single model (required EasyPower due to the size) exceeding 20,000 buses for a large automotive manufacturer. Hands down the best experience of my career. Many utility feeds, several generators, loads of all types, overhead bus ducts, you name it. Luckily the client wanted it to be "the most detailed analysis in North America" and had us verify every wire and necessary component down to the very last device operating at 208V or greater. No assumptions were made. Arc flash analysis, coordination, short-circuit studies, SCCR evaluations of all new equipment added to the system. Great experience! |
