Reconditioned – This is a new definition on the 2020 National Electrical Code.
Reconditioned. Electromechanical systems, equipment, apparatus, or components that are restored to operating conditions. This process differs from normal servicing of equipment that remains within a facility, or replacement of listed equipment on a one-to-one basis. Informational Note: The term reconditions is frequently referred to as rebuilt, refurbished, or remanufactured.
With ever-increasing attention given to electrical safety and the definition of “Normal Operation” including items such as the equipment being properly maintained and no evidence of impeding failure, more equipment is being reconditioned. Although the NEC also lists equipment that is prohibited from being refurbished such as AFCI and GFCI devices.
With that long intro, here is this week’s question.
Do you/client/company have equipment that has been reconditioned? Yes No Doesn't Apply
