This week's question is a bit difficult as it involves fatalities. Do you know anyone that was an electrocution fatality? Yes No |

I don't know anyone who died from an electrocution but I do know someone who nearly died. He was severely burned and lost his left leg as a result of the accident. |

While I did not know them personally, I was working on site at a large construction project when two fatalities happened. I did know some one who was injured in arc flash incident that resulted in severe burns but not a fatality. And have seen the aftermath of many arc flash incidents. Hopefully all those experiences have made me safer and the people I work with safer. |

Hi Jim Up here in Ontario we have had numerous electrocutions and serious injuries over the years with 347 Volt contact. Up here 347 Volts is a very popular voltage system for commercial and industrial lighting. A contractor colleagues of mine in hte HAmilton area was electrocuted a few years back while performing work in the intercostal space between floors at a local hospital (of all places). The problem is with the shared neutral on a 3 phase system. Even with isolating the subject circuit workers are sustaining injury from contacting the neutral conductor which is being shared by the other 2 phases which are still energized. My famous line in my training sessions is we as an electrical, OHS, or just simply industrial community really need to start talking more about shock, shock hazard and shock protection. There are likely thousands of shock incidents happening in both the US and Canada every day that go un reported by the worker |

I have known people but I do not currently know anyone that is a victim of an electrocution (present tense). Never met a zombie personally. |
