Have you worn PPE with an arc rating above 40 cal/cm^2?

Does it count if I've got cotton underwear, followed by FR shirt and pants, followed by a 40 cal suit over the top of that? Our standard workwear is the typical ATPV 10 range and we haven't taken credit for or tested the combination of the 3 so technically I'm way higher but never treated it that way.

Good points. I expect that is what most guys are wearing. Probably not wearing double balaclava's and face shields though.

I have not been in a situation where I personally needed to where clothing that exceeded 40 cal/cm2. At a prior location, the suit was rated for 46 cal and the actual equipment rating was around 42 cal, and I encouraged them to where that when necessary.

We have 65 and 100 calorie suits available at the station. I have been required to wear both. Current Engineering provided arc flash calculations list one breaker at 74, one at 52 and several between 42 and 46.5. Also our procedure directs a default to 100 calorie suits if addressing an energized situation that has not been previously evaluated and no Engineer is available to perform calculations.
