Not exactly the most comfortable attire, this week's question is: Have you ever worn an arc flash suit? (i.e. bee keeper suit, moon suit etc.?)

Yes It #&^&* to work in one. Not that you can really get any real "work" done in one. Given the abmient level of lighting usually present around switchgear (dim to pitch black), and the tinted visor, you cant see what you are doing anyway. And god forbid you should have to lean forward, because the Hard hat/hood/ visor assembly wants to come tumbling off. At least we have gone to suits with positive ventilation, which helps quite a bit, because otherwise you start risking heat exhaustion / stroke after about 15 min, not to mention that the visor clouds up without it too. |

But it is all to make sure you are protected from the arc flash that is more likely to occur BECAUSE of wearing the suit! |

Have you ever been shocked by a DC system? If the answer is yes, what was the voltage? |
