I guess I'll take this week off. wbd asked a question this week so here it is: In order to identify many circuits to develop or update a one line, one has to trace the conduit run to the end device starting at the breaker. Have you or someone you know used circuit tracers on 480V circuits?
Your experiences are appreciated! Thanks wbd! If any of you have questions that you would like to see as part of the "Question of the Week", let me know and I'll post it here. |

We occasionally use a circuit tracer as a last resort. First we verify the other circuits in the panel by tracing the conduit or de-energizing the circuit. We are left with the circuit that we cannot trace or de-energize. The untraced breaker will already be clearly labeled as to the equipment it feeds, then we use the circuit tracer to verify what we already know. I would not use the circuit tracer for anything other than verifying what you already suspect to be true. |
