On Average, what percentage of the arc flash study effort is for data collection?

On average somewhere around 50% but it varies widely depending on whether it is an old existing place without much documentation or new construction where much of the info is readily available.

One of the problems that add time (money) to the cost of doing and arc flash analysis is have to go back to the facility and getting some information that you might have forgotten. Facility Results has a new software that assures that no information will be forgotten. The software is simple to use and creates the one-line, label installation report with pictures and a complete catalog for each device. Google "flashtrack data collection" to read more about it. Then download a free copy.
