There are two options ETAP can use for calculating bolted fault current. One is the symmetrical ½ cycle momentary and the other is symmetrical 1.5 to 4 cycle interrupting fault current. Which fault current is more appropriate for arc flash studies and does it depend on the voltage level? |

It depends on what is sourcing the fault current. If you do not have synchronous generators or induction motors present in your model, the 1/2 and 1.5 to 4 cycle should be the same. If you do have them in the model, it would be a good idea to see which option will have the higher incident energy. |
