Here's a good one.... I just read on the website for The Workplace Safety Awareness Council that the August 2007 Revision on the 29CFR1910.301-.399 requires arc flash hazard boundaries, equipment labeling and PPE. Can anyone confrim this? I am trying to find a place to purchase the standard, but so far I can't find a place to do that. The above mentioned website is linked below. http://www.wpsac.org |

You can get PDF's of specific CFR sections via this website: http://www.gpoaccess.gov/cfr/retrieve.html Also, here is a link to the 2005 Federal Register where OSHA proposed changes to it's utility standard 1910.269 to add arc flash requirements: http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getpage.cgi?dbname=2005_register&position=all&page=34866 To my knowledge, these changes have not been adopted into 1910.269. I bet they are still being litigated. |

It seems 1EEE 1584 provides guidance in cutting off calculations at 2.0 seconds of arc exposure. I provide training as such and caution the workers that for certain job tasks/approaches this assumed time constraint may not be valid. |
