Hi all
I just realize a limitation in the Arc flash tool, it was not capable calculating arc flash levels. I investigated and found that IEEE 1584 2018 edition doesn't cover bolted fault levels above 65kA rms.
The previous edition went to 106kA rms.
Are where other methods than IEEE 1584 equations to fulfill NFPA 70E arc flash hazard evaluation, which allow higher fault level?
Are there any recommended workaround with IEEE 1584 based software to get reliable results above 65kA?
The 2018 Edition of IEEE 1584 is valid up to 106kA up to 600v. The 65 kA value is for 601v to 15kv
Quoted from page 20 if 2018 IEEE 1584:Bolted fault current (rms symmetrical)
— 208 V to 600 V: 500 A to 106 000 A
— 601 V to 15 000 V: 200 A to 65 000 A
Hope that helps with clarify the range.
