If using the tables require an analysis of the electrical system because the size of the electrical service to the plant is too large [4000a 480v] , would upgrading or replacing the main cb so it is inside the parameters set by nfpa70e be enough to be able to use the task tables ? or is more needed?

You can upgrade your main to use a arc flash reduction switch, that will help your clearing time issues but canging the main won't change the available fault current, if that exceeds the limits of the tables you will need to do an analysis.

However. even if you are inside the limits, with a 4000A service I highly recommend doing an analysis.
