My EHS director ask how we can measure our electrical safety program? Not sure how to quantify this. Any idea? Thanks, Martin |

We use the following measures: 1. Scored feedback card - we ask the organizer of the event to answer 5 questions on a scale of 1 to 5 2. Contacts / incidents in our service territory 3. Number of events we hold and the number of participants You should ask yourself what your real objective is before selecting your measures though. our objective is to reach as many possible viewers as we can with the resources we have available, within the quality standard we have set for feedback. We have one leading, one lagging, and one activity based measure which helps us stay in tune with the objective. |

Thanks for your replys. Our program is based on NFPA 70E with arc flach labels that define the PPE and hazard generated with easypower No incidents.. Saftey videos shown and have meetings but no outside AF or NFPA 70E training. Work only on systems <600v and no live interacting work is allowed other then troubleshooting. All have FR clothing to wear. All systems are fed from busway with current limiting fuses. No switchgear or busway work allowed other then troubleshooting or breaker reset with PPE. No work permits issued. |

As per my view, auditing of the electrical safety program is the best technique to measure its effectiveness. You should get your industry's safety rules and standard thoroughly checked by a well known regulation authority as it might point out the areas overlooked or neglected by you. |

Agreed, just be careful who you choose to do the audit, there are many self proclaimed "experts" out there with not a clue. I am sure some members here could recommend someone local for you. |
