Expire Date on Arc Flash Label

I was recently in a workshop given by one of the companies that supply analysis software and the instructor mentioned that we should include an expiration date of 5 years & 1 day after the print date on the Arc Flash Labels. He gave a very vague answer why and I was curious if anyone had heard of doing this and if it is in any of the standards.

Articke 130.3 says it need to be reviewed periodacally, not to exceed 5 years. But that does nto mean you need to replace the labels, unless the results changed.

Any chance this company that did the training sells labels?

Many thanks Zog. That would make sense to review, but if you put an expire date on them you would definitley have to replace after that date. I think I'll just leave it off.
They only sale the software.

As you will find, at this time no NEC or NFPA documents comment about the label being replaced. I agree it should be dated. The only comments by NFPA were that a review should not exceed 5 years.

As said in the link, a standard should be in place. I have developed documented procedures for this matter. It goes like this: An engineering change document must be completed for any changes to the electrical system or equipment on the system.

This document includes specific information about the change such as equipment added, date, size, fuse data, load data etc.. This is passed to the local AHJ and the one-line is updated, LOTO updated, Area Safety review and other documents ensures all safety matters are always up to date.
