Laundering FR Clothing

Discussion in 'Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)' started by keraunos, Feb 25, 2009.

Bulwark Protective Apparel Bulliten RK-78 rev 1/23/2008 states under it's industrial laundry section to "Use non-ionic formulas. Do not use natural soaps (anionic or tallow soap) or silicate supplemented detergents." They state the reason is that build-up of these products masks the FR properites.

For home wash, the same Bulletin states "use any typical home laundry detergent". After several trips to local markets, it has become evident that available commercial brands contain the ingredients prohibited in the industrial laundering section.

We have had no response from Bulwark to date, and pay our bargaining unit employees a stipend to launder their apparel. They need guidance on this.

Has anyone else encounterd this issue?
