Osha 1910.269

    I heard that OSHA 1910.269 had been going through the revision / approval process for the past few years. Does anyone know if the new version has been completed / adopted and does it say anything new about arc flash and PPE?

    I know OSHA moves very slowly but any idea on when this revision might be done? Months, Years, Our lifetime?

    Also... is there any specific reference in OSHA to either

    Arc Flash or
    FR clothing ?

    All I can find is 1910.335 "wear PPE that is appropriate"

    leaving "appropriate" up to 70E, IEEE 1584 and the other standards.

    They were saying it was to change by the end of 2007, instead they made changes to the installation requirements, I think the 70E changes will be rolled into the general electrical sections first, then into 269 because they have to cover 70E and NESC which is in flux right now. That is just what I expect to happen, I dont have any inside info on a timetable or anything.

    I don't think OSHA would be able to put in law the requirements for 'no live work' the same as NFPA70E. Typically, you don't see regulations that disruptive to normal business flow in OSHA.

    Does anyone know if the term "arc flash" or "FR clothing" even appears in the OSHA regulations. I can't seem to find it.
