2012 NFPA 70E - Incident Energy OR Arc Rating

Discussion in 'NFPA 70E - Standard for Electrical Safety in the W' started by JoeB, Aug 1, 2011.

It looks like there must have been a major change from a draft of the 2012 70E that was circulating out there. This language makes much more sense than the "either / or" language of 2009 and the "Only One" language in the 2012 draft. Glad it changed.
  2. Roger Junior Level

    the final draft indicates:
    (1) At least one of the following:
    a. Available incident energy and the corresponding working distance
    b. Minimum arc rating of clothing
    c. Required level of PPE
    d. Highest hazard/risk category (HRC) for the equipment
  3. MIControl Junior Level

Where did this table come from?

Looking at this table, it appears to be different from how I would interpret all the documentation I have seen. Each catagory is listed with a MINIMUMarc-rating = X cal/cm2. Your table reads the opposite. Example: anything over 8.1 cal/cm2 would fall into HRC 3 for required equipment. This does not seem logical to me. Is this an actual table in 2012 NFPA 70E?
