electrical arc calc

    Hi all. I have been tasked with setting up our plant arc flash safety. I have seen the ieee calc. But I'm not sure were I would find the numbers to plug into the the calc. I am by no means an engineer. I am more familair with control voltage and plc programming. Not sure how I was choosen to do this, but with my name on it I want to do it right. any suggestions or help would be appreaciated. I have got some info from HR. But find it hard to believe that an 8cal suit and 4 foot boundries are suitable for 4kamp switchgear. Please help

    You have been assigned a HUGE and CRITICAL project. The results affect peoples survival in the event of an arc flash. There are a few resources out there. I wrote the guide for conducting the detailed arc flash study last year for NFPA's NEC Digest. It is posted at my website listed below. Feel free to download it and any other info that you need. If you get stumpped, let me know and I can provide a little bit of guidance off line to help get you moving on it. Good luck!

    IEEE 1584 excel calculation sheet

    i am interested in arc flash study, but i fail to get the IEEE 1584 excel calculation sheet. can anyone throw the light to this question?

    Hi all, my name is Peter Cadili. I'm an italian electrical engineering student. I'm preparing my thesis about arc flash hazard..Please help me for comprise two questions:
    1. In the Iarcing formula, comparison in the exponent the Ka parameter equal -0.097 in the box configuration and -0.153 in the air configuration.
    Why exist this difference beetwen parameters Ka?:confused:
    2.The normalized incident energy is calculated at t=o.2 sec and at the distance =610 mm.
    why this choices?
