I work for a small public utility in the northwest. We are struggling with how to handle <1000V, especially 480V. The calc's don't work well for that voltage level and i have yet to see a tabular reference. At this point, our plan is to work <250V as cat 1 unless it is fed from a 500kVA+ transformer; then deenergize. For 480V, we will work transformers <=300kVA as cat 1 and deenergize above. For setting and pulling 480V self-contained meters, we plan on deenergizing, but we would rather not. Wasn't someone working on a reference for below 1000V?

No problem...thanks a lot, really appreciate it.

Thank you very much. If you won't mind, can I get your information (name or company)? A list of your muni clients, maybe? I would like to make my recommendation more convincing to my manager.

Hi. I am engineer at a CA electric utility and am currently working on an arc flash study. I used IEEE 1584 for <1000V and some of the IE levels at sec. terminals of padmounted transformers are over 40 cal/cm2. I have recommended to deenergize at or above this level but my boss wants to know which utilities do this (deenergize at 40 cal/cm2). Do you know of any utilities that do this? Thanks and I appreciate your contributions to this forum.

      Sir,
I have a question on the forum about industrial computers and a question from a safety person about labeling and how the policy should be with IT people working inside the electronic enclosure.
This is a simple task. Do you have any idea on how to deak with this type of issue? Thanks Martin
