I heard that NESC is considering revising either Table 410-1 or 410-2 or both in the near future. Has anyone else heard this and do you have any more information?
Thanks

Wow! That's quite a pretty nasty rumor. If it is true it will certainly confuse the utility side of things even more. Where did you hear this?

First I have heard! It is my understanding that the NESC had gone to a 5 year revision cycle (hence 2012), so if this is true then someone involved in the process needs to let us know that early revisions are forthcoming! Could make a huge difference in the advice that we give to our clients today!!!!!

That's going to be huge. There is so much confusion as it is between the NESC tables, IEEE methods, the physics models of ArcPro and Duke programs, 3 phase vs. 1 phase on overhead lines etc. As soon as anyone knows any info, please let us all know.

I just saw the draft changes yesterday which involve only the recommendations under 1000 volts. Not sure if something will be released as a TIA before the next code cycle or not. I have to admit I don't find the NESC confusing at all - is there something in particular you have questions about?

I do not find the NESC confusing at all. If fact it is so simple that I have wondered if the arc flash portion was nothing more than an after thought.

Too different subjects seem to be getting confused here. The TIA (http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/nesc/TIA_5Sept2008.pdf) has been released, dealing with the miscalculations originally done on table 2. Not sure why this was a TIA, and not errata.
I've attached a proposed 2012 table 1, dealing with secondary voltages. Presumably the '07 tables will be renumbered for 2012.
